KAWAGOE, JAPAN - AUGUST 01: Xander Schauffele of Team United States celebrates with the gold medal during the medal ceremony after the final round of the Men's Individual Stroke Play on day nine of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Kasumigaseki Country Club on August 01, 2021 in Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan. The 2024 Summer Olympics get underway this week and the golf portion of the games will be a Le Golf National. The men’s tournament will take place August 1-4, while the women’s tournament will be held from August 7-10.

Through the qualification process the United States will have a total of seven golfers (four men and three women) competing in the tournaments. They’ll also have both defending gold medalists on their teams this year. Below is a list of the golfers representing Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

MEN’S GOLFERS

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER

The number one ranked men’s golfer on the planet and current Masters champion will represent the U.S.A. in the Olympics for the first time. Scheffler will look to become the first golfer to win both the Masters and Olympic gold in the same year.

XANDER SCHAUFFELE

Schauffele will enter the Olympics as the reigning gold medalist in the men’s game. He enters the 2024 tournament with a bit more hardware in his trophy case after his two major output in 2024. Can Schauffele backup his Claret Jug victory with a successful defense of his gold medal?

WYNDHAM CLARK

Clark’s U.S. Open victory in 2023 and Pebble Beach Pro-Am victory early in 2024 helped him get where he needed to be in the world rankings to qualify for his first Olympics. Even though the Olympics doesn’t have the strongest field due to the qualifying rules, Clark will be looking to finally perform well in a big event in 2024 as his major season in 2024 included three missed cuts and a T56 in his U.S. Open title defense.

COLLIN MORIKAWA

Morikawa will be appearing in his second consecutive Olympics for the United States at the 2024 games. He fell short of a bronze medal in the 2020 games after losing to C.T. Pan on the fourth playoff hole.

WOMEN’S GOLFERS

NELLY KORDA

Korda had a terrific summer in 2021 and that included a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo (they kept the 2020 name even though the games were delayed a year). The current world number one will be looking to regain her early 2024 form at the 2024 Summer Games and defend her gold medal at Le Golf National.

LILIA VU

Vu enters her Olympic debut as the second ranked golfer in the women’s world rankings. The two-time major champion had a big 2023, but an injury slowed her 2024 season early on. Since returning from injury she has found the winner’s circle again and now she’ll be looking to add a gold medal to her trophy case in Paris.

ROSE ZHANG

Much like Vu, Zhang will be representing the U.S.A. in the Olympics for the first time in her career. Zhang got herself into the Olympics by picking up two wins within a year of turning pro and climbing the world rankings. She’ll try to become the first golfer to win both the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and an Olympic gold medal in their career.
