When cleaning a room, it's best to start at the top and end at the bottom, so that anything wiped away falls downward and is cleaned at the end. Since we Cleaned the Bathtubs, Showers and Shower Curtains on Day 1, Cleaned the Faucets and Shower Heads on Day 2, and Organized the Cabinet Under the Sink on Day 3, it's time to finish up the rest of the bathroom today! We are going to be taking the day off tomorrow, so you have time to make the cleaners if you choose and use 2 days to get everything clean, then on Monday, we will get back to it and start cleaning in the kitchen! Let's get started!

How to Clean Mirrors and Windows

If you have any windows in your bathroom, you will want to start with them, then clean the bathroom mirror. If you'd like, you can make my Homemade Window Cleaner HERE. I like to use a squeegee to clean mine to get them extra clean and streak free, but if you prefer, you can use paper towels or a microfiber cloth. If you are using a microfiber cloth or paper towel, spray the window/glass cleaner onto the cloth/towel, then wipe down the glass. If you are using a squeegee, spray down the window/mirror, the use the squeegee in a downward motion against the glass, pulling the cleaning solution and dirt down. Use a paper towel to wipe the squeegee clean in between swipes. Finish off by wiping the window/mirror with a paper towel to remove any liquid left behind.

How to Clean Bathroom Surfaces

Here are two different ways to clean your bathroom surfaces.

Use a spray cleaner to clean countertops and the outside of the toilet. For this method, you can use a store bought cleaner or make my favorite Homemade Natural All-Purpose Cleaning Spray. Start by spraying down your countertops and use a microfiber cloth or paper towel to wipe them down. Next, spray the cleaner on the back of your toilet, the toilet lid and seat, behind the toilet seat and around the outside of the toilet, then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth or paper towels.

Wipe down all surfaces using pre-moistened cleaning wipes like Clorox wipes or you can make my Homemade Re-Usable Bathroom Cleaning Wipes. Start by wiping down your countertops, then use a new cleaning wipe to wipe down the entire toilet. I like two cloths on the toilet...one for the top and surrounding areas of the toilet, and a separate one for the toilet lid, seat and behind the toilet seat. How to Clean Inside of the Toilet

To clean the inside of the toilet, you will need a toilet scrub brush and toilet cleaner. You can make my Homemade Toilet Cleaner HERE if you like! If yo don't have any toilet cleaner and prefer not to make your own, HERE is a post I wrote showing How to Clean a Toilet with Mouthwash. Start by spraying/pouring the toilet cleaner into the bowl and up around the rim of the toilet. Let it sit for at least 5-10 minutes. Use a toilet brush to scrub the inside of the toilet and work the cleaner around. Flush the toilet. If you have small children or pets, it's best to keep the toilet lid closed while the toilet cleaner is in it. Also, please flush a few times before leaving the toilet open after cleaning so that all of the cleaner is completely flushed.

My bathroom floor is a tile floor, but I used to have linoleum floors. The good news is, you can use the same method to clean either type of bathroom flooring. I like to mix ½ cup of distilled white vinegar with a gallon of warm water. Dip a mop into the solution, then wring the mop out. Use the mop to clean the floors, then allow the floors to air dry. I own a Bissell Crosswave, so I use it to clean my floors now, but it is a more expensive option.
