Simple Diaper Cake Tutorial - Forks and Folly (2024)

The easiest DIY Diaper Cake Tutorial you’ll ever see! No rubber bands, and filled with products every new mom will need! Makes the perfect baby shower gift!

Let’s be honest, of all of the baby stuff that one can buy and register for, only a few are critical, and then there are some niceties. Most however, are for the birds. With three children under my belt, I’ve learned that you need very little to raise a baby. And most of the essentials are the things that don’t come to mind when you find out you are expecting.

It’s all headbands and crib bedding. When it really should be nipple cream and poop containment. But the latter just isn’t as much fun to think about. I get it. I don’t want to be the Debbie Downer at the baby shower, but I do want to give the mom-to-be something that she’ll be grateful for. And actually use.

If you’ve missed it, I’ve compiled this little post with the Essentials for your Baby Registry. These items are things that I found critical to those first few months with baby and any of these make great gifts for a mom-to-be.

But, if you’re looking for something a little more “Show-Stopper”, give this Simple Diaper Cake a go – not only does is it super easy to put together (if I can do it…), but it comes loaded with all of the things momma will need for those first few diaper changes: Diapers, diaper rash cream, and Diaper Genie refills. Oh, and it makes a great center piece too!

Step 1: Gather two different sized round cake pans (I had a standard cake pan and a spring form. Use what you have!

Step 2: Using size one diapers arrange them diaper-flap side in until you have a tight fit.

Step 3: While diapers are still in pan, tie a ribbon around them. It doesn’t have to be super-tight, but make sure it’s secure. Then gently side the diapers out of the pan.

Step 4: Continue the process with the next pan.

Step 5: Your Diaper Genie Refills will be your top layers. Tape two together and fill with diapers. We need to have something to support the top layer so it doesn’t fall through.

Step 6: Stack all three layers (your two diaper layers, then your Diaper Genie refill layer) and top with a tub of your favorite diaper cream then decorate.

Takes less than 30 minutes to assemble! Plus, no rubber bands are needed. You don’t want to roll them, and a new mom doesn’t want to unroll them!

Isn’t it cute? You can get your supplies at Target, and even better? By purchasing Diaper Genie products you canearn points to use towards great rewards with the Mommy Time Rewards Porgram.
